DETROIT, Sept. 28 -- In partnership with the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Ford Motor Company will host a public forum, Tomorrow Begins Today: African-American Women As We Age, on Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., at the Ford Conference & Event Center in Dearborn, Michigan. Moderated by local on-air personalities, businesswomen, physicians and authors, this exploration of African-American women promises to be a day filled with information on life-planning strategies to ensure successful living and life satisfaction in future years.
Tomorrow Begins Today is a public education campaign that offers a platform for mature women to uncover the connection between happiness, a healthy self-image and finding one's true purpose. This interactive forum will inspire African-American women to view middle age as a time for renaissance and renewal. Respected panelists will discuss a range of essential topics that affect African-American women such as health, finance, nutrition and education.
"Collaborating with a prestigious organization such as NCNW will help us spread the important message of healthy living from the inside out to African- American women in the Detroit metropolitan area," said Pamela Alexander, director of community development and business operations for Ford Motor Company Fund. "Ford is proud to host this intergenerational initiative that encourages African-American women to make the most out of life stages through self-empowerment and self-discovery."
The event provides an opportunity for African-American women to gather in a large forum to learn new strategies on living and aging well. Not only will the program emphasize the importance of achieving good physical and mental health, but also finding life satisfaction and improving overall financial and emotional well-being. The goal is to motivate African-American women to begin thinking about their future years.
Detroit is the sixth city to unveil this campaign. Other cities where NCNW has successfully hosted this innovative one-day forum include Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Washington, D.C.
