TOYOTA JOINS CRUZ PEDREGON'S USAC WESTERN MIDGET CAR RACING PROGRAM
AS ENGINE SUPPLIER

TORRANCE, Calif. (September 28, 2006) -- Toyota Motorsports has partnered with Cruz Pedregon
Racing as the exclusive engine supplier for the team in the USAC Western Midget Car Series for the

remainder of the 2006 season.  Pedregon is a team owner in various series' as well as the 1992 NHRA
POWERade Drag Racing Series Funny Car Champion.  He won the NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas earlier
this season and is currently among the top 10 in points.

"When I first learned that Toyota was building a USAC midget engine, I wanted to be a part of their
program right away," Cruz said.  "They have the latest, state-of-the-art midget engines and parts, and as a
racer and team owner, I'm always looking for the best available equipment.  We are looking forward to the

debut of our Toyota-powered #71 Advance Auto Parts/Quaker State midget car, which will be piloted by
Jerome Rodela, at Ventura Raceway's USAC Western Midget Car Series event this Saturday, September 30."
"You couldn't ask for a better opportunity than being involved with Toyota," said Rodela, 25 of El
Monte, Calif. the  2005 USAC Western Midget Car Series champion.  "They are so involved with racing at all

levels, and their knowledge of racing and engine building is unsurpassed.  Toyota is dedicated to winning and
will go the extra mile to help us get our team into the winner's circle, which is why I am so excited about this
new partnership."

"We have closely watched the USAC Western Midget Car Series and are consistently impressed with
the driving talent of Jerome Rodela and the commitment that Cruz Pedregon has made as a team owner to
field a top-notch, front-running team," said Gary Reed, vice president of special racing projects at TRD,
U.S.A.  "The Pedregon/Rodela combination is one that we believe has great potential, and it was an easy

decision for us to make when deciding which USAC team we wanted to work with to debut the new Toyota
midget engine on the West Coast.  We're honored that the team has accepted Toyota as their engine
manufacturer of choice, and we hope to be able to reward their confidence in us."

Pedregon expanded his racing business empire in 2005 by becoming an owner of a California-based
USAC midget racing operation.  He also owns his Advance Auto Parts/Quaker State-supported drag racing
operation, based out of Brownsburg, Ind.  "In my racing career, I've been fortunate enough to align myself

with good people and partners, and Toyota fits in with that strategy.  I'm really pleased to form an alliance
with all of them.  With a winning team, a good young driver, and new engines that Toyota has developed
strictly for USAC Midget racing, built for us by Larry Slutter and his talented crew at TRD in Costa Mesa,
Calif., we have the resources and confidence to go out and win races right away."

2-2-2-2 Toyota Joins Cruz Pedregon's USAC Western Midget Car Racing Program As Engine Supplier
The Cruz Pedregon Racing midget program, based in El Monte, Calif., will include a three-car
operation managed by Josh Pedregon.  "We have put together a great team with full support from Toyota for

both our dirt program (two Spike chassis') and pavement program (one Gerhardt chassis)," said Josh.  "We
are working hard to get the #71 Advance Auto Parts/Quaker State/Toyota team some wins and a
championship.  We have all of the tools to get it done, including a young and energetic driver, Jerome Rodela,

who is working on his second consecutive USAC Western Midget Car Series championship."
