Rev. Jesse Jackson Challenges Auto Industry at 7th Annual Automotive Symposium

WHO: Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., Minority Auto Suppliers and Dealers
            and community leaders

  WHAT: Press Conference

  WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at 10 a.m.

  WHERE: Detroit Yacht Club
            1 Riverbank Road, Belle Isle
            Detroit, Mich.

WHY: Rainbow PUSH/Coalition will hold a press conference with African
American suppliers, dealers, and community leaders to frame the
state of the automotive industry for African Americans. Rev.
Jackson has begun the automotive evaluation process of
automakers and their commitment to African Americans suppliers
and dealers. He is also concerned about the plight of African
American dealers. "African American consumers account for $57
billion annually in new car sales, yet African American
suppliers are shrinking. African American dealers are faced
with disaster as dealer territorial rights among non-minority
dealers stifle their growth. The automotive industry must be
more sensitive to African American suppliers and dealers," said
            Rev. Jackson.

Note: Please call Jerry or John to confirm your participation in the
            press conference
