Chase for the Cup Leader Jeff Burton to Greet Fans at Kansas City Cingular Store Thursday

Burton is coming off his first Cup series win in five years

KANSAS CITY, Kan., Sept. 26 -- As the Cup Series shifts into overdrive for its season-ending stretch run to crown a champion, TEAM Cingular is in the driver's seat with driver Jeff Burton leading the championship point standings. To help celebrate Burton's win at Dover last weekend, his first in five years, Cingular is giving fans an exclusive opportunity to meet the points leader before he takes the green flag in Kansas City on Sunday in search of his second consecutive victory.

Burton is scheduled for a special appearance at the Kansas City, Kan., Cingular Wireless Store located at 1813 Village West Parkway on Thursday, September 28, from 5 - 7 p.m. The appearance will include autograph and photograph opportunities with fans, TEAM Cingular giveaways and opportunities for Burton to talk with the media about leading the Chase for the Cup after the first two races. The No. 31 Cingular Wireless Chevrolet will also be on- site and provide excellent photograph opportunities.

"This will be a very special event, especially for this region, which only hosts one race per year," said Nancy Garvey, vice president and general manager for Cingular's Midwest market. "This area has such a passion for motorsports and we're thrilled to be able to provide our customers and race fans with a unique opportunity to meet Jeff Burton, one of the top drivers in the sport."

Burton is having one of the best seasons of his 14-year Cup Series career. Boosted by his win at Dover this past weekend, he has recorded five Top-5 finishes and 17 Top-10 finishes. He has also been the pole sitter at four races, the most in his career. Burton qualified for the Chase for the Cup in eighth position and has since moved up the standings to first after two races.
