Interstate Batteries(R) Named Presenting Sponsor for GREAT RACE USA 2007
ORANGE, Calif., Sept. 26 -- GREAT RACE and Interstate Battery System of America(R) have announced a partnership today naming Interstate Batteries the Presenting Sponsor for the historic 25th Anniversary running of GREAT RACE.
GREAT RACE USA 4,000mi 2007, Presented by Interstate Batteries, will feature classic cars and futuristic, alternative-powered vehicles in the same competition, a coast-to-coast race across America. Great Race organizers will host the 14-day cross-country road race, an annual summertime tradition, through more than 40 large and small communities, reaching a potential market of more than 50 million people.
The partnership extends the association between Great Race and Interstate Batteries to 25 years. Interstate Batteries was the original Title Sponsor and Co-Founder of the race in 1983, and has been an Associate Sponsor since 2003. In addition to being named Presenting Sponsor, Interstate Batteries will become the Official Battery provider for GREAT RACE USA 4,000mi 2007.
For the first time ever, alternative-fuel and hybrid powered vehicles will compete in the coast-to-coast Great Race to prove the viability of the latest sustainable automotive technology. This great race to the 21st Century will feature "green" technologies and promote renewable energy usage.
"The Great Race was founded to celebrate people's love affair with the automobile," states Bill Ewing, CEO of Rally Partners, Inc., organizer of Great Race competitions. "The 25th Anniversary Great Race celebrates that love affair by including the next generation of automobiles in a competition alongside historically significant classic automobiles. We are delighted that Interstate Batteries has chosen to increase its participation with Great Race."
"Interstate Batteries is thrilled to partner with Great Race to once again bring the ultimate automotive adventure to America," said Charlie Suscavage, Vice President of Advertising and Public Relations. "Interstate Batteries involvement with the Great Race is a natural extension of our support for championship-caliber racing in NASCAR and Busch Series racing. This partnership presents an opportunity to bring the Interstate Batteries brand directly to our loyal distributors and consumers in their community. The addition of alternative-powered vehicles in the competition in 2007 demonstrates our company's commitment to technology and innovation."
Interstate Batteries will activate its sponsorship in Great Race USA 4,000mi 2007, with a comprehensive marketing communications program on several levels throughout the year. The program may include on-line consumer promotions and sweepstakes, on-road/community mobile marketing, charitable integration, customer hospitality and on-going public relations.
"Interstate Batteries' leadership in the community and their successful motorsports program demonstrates their commitment to quality," said Bill Ewing. "We are proud to have Interstate Batteries associated with Great Race once again, and are excited about their increased participation to "Presented By" sponsorship of Great Race in 2007."
