Washington DC September 26, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Germany's Der Spiegel magazine reported that DaimlerChrysler is close to reaching an agreement to sell Chery-built automobiles in the United States, and that the automaker may later develop and produce cars with Chery, reports Bloomberg.
The German-American automaker had said last year it may export Chinese-made cars in order to cut its labor costs. CEO Dieter Zetsche is cutting production of vehicles in the U.S. in the face of a projected $1.5 billion third quarter loss in the Chrysler division.
