Tim Sauter Dover Race Review
Tim Sauter Dover Race Review
Lester Buildings driver finishes 28th at both Dover races
September 23rd, Dover International Speedway. In a caution filled
race on the concrete mile oval at Dover Delaware, Tim Sauter and the
Lester Buildings team finished 28th in the Dover 200 as Clint Bowyer
won his first race of the season. Eleven of the top twelve drivers in
the event were NASCAR Nextel Cup regulars.
Sauter like many of the other competitors, had troubles finding grip
on the tricky concrete surface. Tim qualified the McGill Motorsports
Chevy in the 36th position and from the drop of the green flag he
worked hard to keep the Lester Buildings car on the lead lap.
Three cautions in the first thirty laps moved Sauter up to the 28th
when he brought the car to the attention of the crew on lap 37 for
tires and a chassis adjustment. The adjustments helped, but over a
long green flag run Tim was unable to keep pace with the race leaders
and dropped one lap down on lap 96 and through several mid-race
cautions the crew continued making adjustments to improve the car,
but he was unable to get into the lucky dog position to regain the
lost lap.
Tim was able to stay out of trouble through the fourteen cautions
that plagued the race and finished with very little damage, which is
what the team needed after being involved in several recent crashes
at both Bristol and Richmond. “I thought we would be able to give
Lester Buildings a better finish, but it just wasn’t in the cards
today,” Sauter said after the race.
Next up for Tim Sauter and the rest of the NBS competitors is
Saturday September 30th at the Kansas Speedway. Sauter has competed
once previously at the Kansas Speedway in the NBS.
