NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series

Edwards Brothers side-by side for the start of tonight’s 75 lap Crossroads
Fuel’s Late Model race. During time trials, Danny Edwards qualified on the
pole beating his brother Greg’s qualifying time by 2/1000th’s of a second.
Danny qualified at 16.684 seconds and Greg at 16.686. Danny was later
awarded the pole award by Bathfitters.

On the start, Danny shot out ahead and the 40 of Mark Wertz stayed close
behind. Greg was on the outside looking for an opening to fall in line. He
made his way to rear the 40 and ducked the 27 in behind as they entered turn
3.

Eleven laps into the race and Wertz shot ahead of Danny for the lead. Eight
laps later and Greg made his way under brother Danny for second. The
Edwards Brothers were holding on to their respective positions as Greg
started to close in on Wertz. With 27 laps on the board, the first caution
of the night was out. The 29 of Casey Wyatt and the 48 of Shawn Balluzzo
made contact in turn 1. Balluzzo went into a spin heading towards the apron
of the track as the 12 car of Ross Clements was heading straight for him.
With no time to stop, the 12 and 48 cars tangled in turn 1 resulting in both
cars being towed off to pit area.

Back under green, Greg was shortening the gap between the 40 car and his 27.
By lap 35, Greg was side-by-side with Wertz. One lap later and Greg was in
the lead. By lap 41, Danny was nose-to-tail with Wertz as they entered turn
2. As they made their way into turn 4, Danny slipped the 26 under the 40
to run side-by-side until they made their way back around to turn 3. Danny
shot ahead and Wertz ducked in behind. Lap 50 and Wertz was back to regain
his second place position on the track.

After several cautions, the 40 stayed on the bumper of the 27 as the 29
stayed to the bumper of the 26. With 67 laps on the board, the 26 only
having 2 new tires for the race (just like the rest of the field) it just
couldn’t contend with the 29 and its 4 new tires. The 29 made its way into
third as Danny settled the 26 into fourth.

It was a fantastic finish for the Edwards Brothers! Greg brought home his
fifth win of the season and Danny came in fourth.

Greg continues to lead the official track’s point standings. With the last
Track Points Race on October 7th - that leaves only two races for the chase
for the Track Championship.
