BimmerWorld Team Upbeat And Optimistic Heading To Road Atlanta
BimmerWorld drivers, James Clay, Seth Thomas and Steve Bassen head to
Road Atlanta this week with a "home-court" sense of optimism as the
SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Series takes to the legendary
sports car course for Round 9 of the 10 race championship. The SPEED
World Challenge Series will join the American Le Mans Series as part
of the 9th annual running of the Petit Le Mans weekend.
"Road Atlanta is our home track in the series," said James Clay,
BimmerWorld owner and driver of the No. 36 BimmerWorld BMW 325i. "I
always look forward to going there. We ran strong there at the April
race back in 2005, and were the highest finishing BMW taking the 6th
spot. Seth has held the track record at Road Atlanta in the past and
we are typically top 5 finishers there. I think we can do even better
with the new cars."
"Additionally," Clay continued, "the BimmerWorld guys have been hard
at work in the couple of weeks between races developing the package.
Last month at Mosport I had my first complete race finish in the new
E90 chassis so I think our reliability issues with the new car are
coming under control. I feel pretty confident and I'm looking forward
to a strong showing... plus I know we are due a little luck!"
Seth Thomas always enjoys his visits to Road Atlanta.
"This is the best track we go to all year," declared Seth Thomas, No.
38 BimmerWorld BMW 325i. But maybe my perception is a little blurred
given the fact I can sleep in my own bed for this one. Seriously
though, I have had great success here over the years."
"I really do believe this will be the turning point of the season for
the BimmerWorld team," added Seth. "We have fast cars, at a track we
know well and have tested at on numerous occasions. I think we'll be
running up at the front and have all the ingredients for making this
a successful
weekend."
Joining the team this weekend will be Steve Bassen for his SPEED
World Challenge driving debut.
"Steve Bassen, owner of Bassen Auto Body who keeps our cars straight
and looking good, will be with us in the No. 39 BimmerWorld BMW this
weekend," said James Clay. "Steve is an accomplished BMW racer and I
look forward to getting him involved in some of the rubbing, not just
the repair!"
"I am really looking forward to being a part of the Bimmerworld
Racing team," said Bassen. "Having James and Seth as teammates for my
World Challenge debut will be a huge asset. I've worked with the
BimmerWorld crew for several years so I know that they have a well
developed car with a proven set up."
"Road Atlanta always has been one of my favorite tracks," added
Steve. "I'm hoping I have a great showing for myself and for the
BimmerWorld team."
"I am glad that Steve is going to join us for his World Challenge
debut," added Seth Thomas. "He
is the man when it comes to helping us get our cars looking good
after every race. Now he'll get to be part of the action he sees on
TV.... and on our cars when we bring them back to him. It will be a
lot of fun having him on board."
