Toyota Marks Upgrade of Technical Training Center in China

Tokyo, Japan, Sept. 25, 2006 - (JCN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation marked today the completion of refurbishments to the Technical Training Center of Toyota Jin Bei of China Automotive Industry in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China, with a ceremony at the center attended by approximately 300 people, including representatives of TMC and the provincial and municipal governments, as well as the center's instructors and students. The completed refurbishments included the introduction of practice engines and transmissions, 20 electrical maintenance sequence trainers* donated by TMC and renovation of the center's exterior and interior.

The Technical Training Center of Toyota Jin Bei of China Automotive Industry was established in September 1990 by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (then known as the China National Automobile Industry Corporation) and Shenyang Jin Bei Automotive Industry Corporation Ltd. in cooperation with TMC. Its aim is to cultivate highly trained specialists who can play leading roles in automobile production in China.

Over the years, TMC has signed several multiyear basic cooperative agreements with the center, resulting in TMC donating equipment, inviting exceptional trainers and students to Japan for further training, sending instructors from Japan to China and providing scholarships. The recent donation of electrical maintenance sequence trainers is part of TMC's "Sixth Technical Assistance Plan for the Technical Training Center", which was signed with the center in September 2005.

So far, approximately 7,700 people have graduated from the center, which has formed tie-ups with more than 100 companies that provide the graduates employment. Furthermore, the center's reputation for overall excellence - including in terms of its teaching facilities, teaching staff, student academic level and others - has led to it being designated a "national skill assessment center" and an "important skilled workers academy" by the Chinese central government, the government of Liaoning Province and the government of Shenyang City.
