NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Sunday from Champion Raceway

FINAL 2006 NORTHWEST DIVISIONAL IN THE BOOKS

EAGLE POINT, Ore. - Final eliminations are complete at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Northwest Championships at Champion Raceway. Comp Eliminator Driver, Dean Carter and Super Stock racer, Jimmy DeFrank, outran the field to take home trophies.

Carter of Glendale, Ariz., finished the competition with another consistent run beating Jeff Lane of North Bend, Wash., in Comp Eliminator. Carter made a final pass of 7.002 seconds at 188.20 mph to beat Jeff Lane's pass of 8.124 seconds at 162.25 mph.

DeFrank of Chatsworth, Calif., defeated Art Congdon of Calgery, Alb., with a pass of 9.125 seconds at 148.95 mph. Congdon ran a final pass of 9.926 seconds at 131.92 mph.

Stock Eliminator driver, Toby Lang of Auburn, Wash., finished with a big win defeating Joe Sorenson of Woodburn, Ore. Lang's pass of 11.789 seconds at 108.81 mph was enough to beat Sorenson who made a final run of 11.351 seconds at 115.17 mph.

In Super Gas, it was Marvin Wiebe of Abbotsford, B.C., who ran a final pass of 9.901 seconds at 150.26 mph to defeat Mike Ferderer of Buckley, Wash. Ferderer ran a final pass of 9.899 seconds at 166.44 mph.

Rick Dearinger of Port Angeles, Wash., took home the Super Comp trophy with a run of 8.918 seconds at 157.58 mph to beat Keith Downing of Glendale, Ariz.

Top Comp driver, Dustin Hentges of Olympia, Wash., ran 7.405 seconds at 176.14 mph for the win beating Mike Weiss of Port Orchard, Wash., who ran 7.162 seconds at 187.42 mph.

Sportsman Motorcycle racer Butch Cook of Coos Bay, Ore., found the winner's circle defeating Dan Partridge of Kennewick, Wash. Cook, qualifying last in the category, worked his way to the finals finishing with a pass of 9.047 seconds at 145.14 mph.
