NHRA NORTHEAST DIVISION CROWNS SUMMIT RACING SERIES CHAMPIONS AT MAPLE GROVE
RACEWAY

            READING, Pa. - More than 500 of the best bracket racers from
across NHRA's Northeast division came together this weekend at Maple Grove
Raceway to compete in the NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division
Finals.  In the end, five of them walked away champions in Super ET, Pro
Eliminator, Street, Motorcycle/Snowmobile and High School.

            Bob Maclosky of Bordentown, N.J., took the win in Super ET.
Maclosky was representing Atco (N.J.) Raceway ran 7.757 seconds at 168-64
mph to beat Greenville, R.I., resident Wayne Horton who was running for Old
Bridge Twp. Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J.  Horton made a 7.695-second,
175.52 mph pass in the final.

            In Pro Eliminator, Phillip Truitt of Parsonburg, Md., scored the
win for U.S. 13 Dragway in Delmar, Del., wheeling his '76 Nova to the win
over Jody Ames of Elverson, Pa., with a12.894-second run at 103.36 mph.
Ames was on the team from Maple Grove Raceway and red-lighted against
Truitt.

            Bill Colburn earned a win for Numidia (Pa.) Dragway in Street
when he defeated teammate Dave Hock of Pottsville, Pa.  Colburn, a
Downington, Pa., resident, made an 11.659-second, 111.13 mph lap to Hock's
12.974-second, 105.00 mph effort.  Hock was also the runner-up in Friday
night's RBS Trailer Sales Race of Champions.

            In the Motorcycle/Snowmobile final, Steven Myers of York, Pa.,
racing for South Mountain Dragway in Boiling Springs, Pa., rode his '01
Polaris to the winner's circle beating out another racer for Old Bridge Twp.
Raceway Park, Ken Thiedemann of Milford, N.J.  Thiedemann was on board his
'04 Hayabusa.

            High School competitor James Standifer of Monrovia, Md., scored
a win for Mason-Dixon Dragway in Hagerstown, Md., when he made a
12975-second, 107.70 mph pass to beat Matthew Wilson III who drove his '06
Ram to a 16.676-second, 78-41 mph effort.  Wilson represented the team from
Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Md.

The champions in Super ET, Pro Eliminator, Street and Motorcycle/Snowmobile
will now head to Pomona (Calif.) Raceway in November to compete against the
winners in NHRA's other six divisions for a national championship.  Each
driver who competes in Pomona receives $3,500 and the national champion in
each category earns a $5,000 winner-take-all payday.
