Line heads into eliminations No. 2
ENNIS, Texas. (September 23, 2006) - Jason Line, driver of one of the
two KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pontiac GTOs,
maintained pace with teammate Greg Anderson when he qualified No. 2 for
the 21st running of the NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals presented by
Castrol Syntec being held this weekend at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis,
Texas, just outside Dallas.
Line used a change in weather conditions on Saturday to click off a pass
of 6.713 seconds at 205.07 mph to finish the four qualifying sessions
second on the final ladder. He was just a tick of the clock behind
teammate Greg Anderson, who claimed the top position by running a
6.696-second elapsed time.
"Both Greg and I did what was necessary to maintain our opportunity to
have a chance to win the POWERade Pro Stock championship," said Line.
"We ran good times on Friday in the heat, then turned right around and
run stout numbers on Saturday after the temperatures cooled some. Now
it will be up to us to drive these Summit Pontiacs tomorrow like we want
to win."
Coming into the O'Reilly Fall Nationals, Line leads the Pro Stock point
standing by 59 points over Anderson, who holds the second position, and
by 135 points over third place Dave Connolly. Kurt Johnson is in
fourth, 296 points back and Allen Johnson (no relation to Kurt) rounds
out the top five, 314 points behind first.
In tomorrow's opening round, Line faces V. Gaines, who qualified No. 15
with a pass of 6.750 seconds at 205.16 mph.
Of two visits (2004 and 2005) to the quick and fast all-concrete
quarter-mile at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas, just outside
Dallas, Line's best outing was last year when he qualified number two
and finished runner-up to Anderson.
Line and his KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment team begin their
quest for the O'Reilly Fall Nationals Pro Stock title tomorrow, Sunday,
with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. Times is local
Dallas time (CT) and subject to change at anytime.
