WASHED OUT
BLOOMINGTON, IN (SEPTEMBER 23, 2006) - Nobody alive battles the weatherman harder than Mike Miles. He has upgraded pit road to eliminate a condition that has kept us from racing in the past. However, the heavy rains that have been falling over the past couple of days have given the track much more water than it could absorb. Nothing in Mike's bag of tricks was going to change it. Mike will give Mother Nature every opportunity help him rescue a show from the weatherman; but it was clear when the track greeted Mike this morning that, even if the rain stopped at once and the sun came out, there was no way that the track could be prepared for competition. Under the circumstances that existed, Mike felt that the best that he could do was allow the competitors and fans to use their Friday evening for something more productive, than watching the rain.
Our biggest disappointment is that our fans will be deprived of the opportunity to compete on the night reserved for them. We will, for now, have to make do with the memories that they've given us every Friday night all season. We can hardly wait for April of 2007.
There is bright spot in the gloom that covered Bloomington Speedway all day. Our fans will not be deprived of the opportunity to congratulate their favorite drivers this year. This is, of course, because our points awards will be presented at our Awards Banquet at the Bloomington Convention Center. Tickets may be purchased from the track at a cost of $22 each. Tickets will not be sold the day of the event; although they may be purchased in advance and picked up at the door. The social hour which will begin at 6:00 PM should provide the fans with plenty of time to meet their favorite driver and maybe even get an autograph. Following a delicious buffet dinner Pat and Brad will present the awards and recap the season without holding up the racing program. Following the awards presentations there will be dancing to the sounds of The Dance Machine. Plan to be with us on November 4.
