READING, Pa. - The best bracket racers from across NHRA's
Northeast division have converged on Maple Grove Raceway to compete for team
and individual honors at the NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division
Finals. Today's action featured the RBS Trailer Sales Race of Champions.
The Race of Champions is a race within a race that pits the top points
earning drivers from each track against each other in head-to-head
competition.
Super ET racer Scott Albrecht of Severn, N.J., drove his
dragster to the win over Bill Maroun of Emmaus, Pa. Albracht races for the
team from Atco (N.J.) Raceway and Maroun runs Maple Grove Raceway.
Jeff Verdi, Glen Allen, Va., earned the Race of Champions title
in Pro Eliminator, racing for Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Va.

the Mason-Dixon Dragway team from Hagerstown, Md.
Cecil County Dragway (Rising Sun, Md.) racer John Kulaga,
Elkton, Md., wheeled his '71 Comet to the winner's circle over Dave Hock,
Pottsville, Pa. Hock campaigns his dragster for Numidia (Pa.) Raceway.

Champions win in the Motorcycle/Snowmobile class. Stephens, running for Old
Bridge Twp. Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J., rode his '85 Suzuki to the

Meadows, N.J.
Racing continues Saturday at Maple Grove Raceway. Competitors
in the NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division Finals will start
eliminations at 8:30 a.m. Racers are vying for team and individual honors
and a share of the $46,720 purse.
Saturday's individual winners in Super ET, Pro Eliminator, Street and
Motorcycle/Snowmobile will earn the chance to compete against the winners in
NHRA's other six divisions for a national championship at the NHRA Finals in
