Tanner Berryhill Enjoys Strong Summer

Tanner Berryhill Enjoys Strong Summer
TULSA, Oklahoma (September 22, 2006) – Vision Racing developmental driver
Tanner Berryhill has continued to impress throughout the 2006 racing season
and his few last racing venues were no surprise.
Berryhill, the son of NASCAR Busch Series owner and crew chief Adrian
Berryhill has spent the last several weekends competing between JRP in Tulsa,
Oklahoma and most recently in the INEX Bandolero Series at Texas Motor Speedway.
Competing in the Pro Mini Stock class for Demerre Motorsports, he claimed a
runner-up finish in only his third feature start. Competing in a very
competitive series with not a lot of experience at JRP, Berryhill continues to
overcome the odds and flourish into the spotlight. “The more I race at JPR the
better I am getting, so the more seat time the better,?? said Berryhill, who goal
is to become a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion.
“I’ve enjoyed running for Demerre Motorsports, I really appreciate the
opportunity they have given me.??
Most recently, Berryhill returned to Texas Motor Speedway in Justin, Texas
to compete in the INEX Bandolero Series on September 1st and 2nd. On Friday,
Berryhill captured victory in his heat advancing to the main attraction where
he finished second. On Saturday, the youngster backed up his efforts winning
his heat and finishing second in the main race. Then comes the twist.
The winner from Friday and Saturday night was disqualified for an illegal
clutch automatically handing the victory to Berryhill. “No one likes to win
they way we did, but I’ll take it,?? explained Berryhill. “We were legal and he
wasn’t, sometimes that’s the way it is. We had a good car both nights, I’m
so proud of the team.??
Texas Motor Speedway is the toughest Bandolero region to race in currently
as two previous national champions and currently three upcoming racers are
also in Tanner’s division holding spots in the top ten for the national points.
Driving a four year old Bandolero, Berryhill is confident he can claim more
victories and the championship. “I’m focused, and that’s important?? he said.
“I’m maturing the more I race and that’s what I need to do. I’m preparing
myself for a long career as a racecar driver, so I’m being smart about it.
There is a lot of people that are making my dream come true, and I won’t ever
forget them for that, but the focus is on winning. Winning leads to
championships and that’s what I plan on doing.??
Berryhill returns to JRP Speedway this weekend looking to improve on second
place finish in the mini-stocks and is gunning for a win. “I would like to
win my first mini stock this weekend and I think I can do it. I know that
Demerre Motorsports will give me a great racecar, I’m really excited about getting
back to the track.??
Berryhill has also spent the season traveling with his father’s Vision
Racing team in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Busch Series trying to grasp what
his future will be like. “It’s been fun traveling with my dad,?? he
remarked. “My dad is so focused on running good, he’s just had some crappy luck. He
is strong and involved, he’ll get it turned around and he’ll be more
successful than he knows.??
