OPENING DAY OF QUALIFYING AT NATIONAL TRAIL RACEWAY IS A WASH
HEBRON, Ohio - The first day of qualifying at National Trail
Raceway's NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event was washed out by rain
that plagued the area all day. NHRA and track officials decided to call it
a day at about 5 p.m.
The only categories that made any passes were Stock Eliminator
and Super Street. The top qualifier in Stock Eliminator was Tony Goodman of
Zeeland, Mich., who campaigns a '77 Firebird. Super Street competitors make
time trials.
Racing continues Saturday and Sunday at National Trail Raceway
as originally scheduled. Gates open at 8 a.m. both days. Qualifying and
time trials continue Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Then, competitors in
Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street will
run one round of eliminations starting at 2 p.m. Racers in Comp Eliminator,
Top Sportsman, Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will each have
two final qualifying Sessions. Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman will run
at noon and 4 p.m. and Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car are
scheduled at 1 and 5 p.m. On Sunday, eliminations will continue at 8:30
a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will run first round of
eliminations at 1 p.m.
Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event are $15 Saturday and
$15 Sunday. Children 6 to 12 years old are $5 each day and kids 5 and under
