New Environmental Scientists are Ready to Take on **America**'s Challenges *

*(Washington, D.C. - Sept. 22, 2006) More than 300 of the country's best and brightest science graduate students will be in Washington, D.C., to present innovative environmental research on topics including: sustainable biofuels, nanotechnology, emergency communications, tribal environmental health, and much more. The students are recipients of EPA's Science to Achieve Results (STAR) and Greater Research Opportunities (GRO) fellowships for masters and Ph.D. candidates. EPA sponsors these programs to ensure a well-trained environmental workforce, and to maintain America's position as a leader in scientific and technological discovery. Students are candidates for advanced degrees in biology, toxicology, ecology, environmental sciences, and related areas. Dr. Jerry Schnoor, editor, Environmental Science & Technology Magazine, will be the keynote speaker.
