KTKA's Nick Griffith Wins SCCA ProSolo Media Challenge
TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 21, 2006) - KTKA sports director Nick Griffith was
victorious in this year's TireRack(r) SCCA ProSolo Media Challenge at
Heartland Park Topeka, crossing the timing stripe a fraction of a second
faster than TK Magazine's Jason Hull.
Climbing aboard Chrysler Crossfire SRT 6s, several members of the
Topeka-area media braved the wet weather to tackle a ProSolo course and
experience what over 1,200 soloists will compete in over the following
week. Each media representative was given two runs apiece on mirror
image courses, marked only by cones. The driver's best time on each
course was added together for a total score.
Griffith came out on top with a 94.204, followed closely by Jason Hull
who clocked in at 94.975. Mark Elliott of WIBW Radio finished third with
a 95.671, and KSNT's Adam Alter and Johnny Kane duked it out for
fifth-fastest on the day, Alter edging Kane with a combined time of
97.763 to 100.262.
Local businessman Jim Parrish won the VIP challenge with a time of
102.163.
The SCCA ProSolo Media Challenge was a preview of the TireRack SCCA
ProSolo Finale which will get underway tomorrow, Sept. 22, at Heartland
Park Topeka, followed by the TireRack SCCA Solo National Championships,
Sept. 26 - 29. More than 1,200 of the country's best soloists will
compete for thousands of dollars in contingency prizes and the honor of
being 2006 Champion.
