TWO DIVISION CROWNS UP FOR
GRABS

SATURDAY AT
IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY

IRWINDALE, Calif. (September 21,
2006) – Two division championships will be decided this Saturday (September 23)
during Laidlaw’s Harley Davidson on the Half Mile at Irwindale Speedway. Six
races are scheduled with action taking place in the Auto Club Late Models, Vista
Paint Super Stocks, Snap-on Tools Mini Stocks, Legend Cars, USAC Ford Focus
Midgets and Bandoleros divisions.

Travis Thirkettle of
Newhall, Calif.
has a 27-point lead over defending division champion Tim Huddleston of
Agoura Hills, Calif. and needs only a 14th place
finish in the race to clinch his first Auto Club Late Model championship. If
Huddleston’s bid to overtake Thirkettle is unsuccessful, he can do no worse than
clinch runner-up honors. Huddleston has a comfortable 80-point lead over Mike
Johnson of Covina,
Calif.

Bryan Harrell of Riverside, Calif. has a
35-point lead over Greg Crutcher of Covina and needs only an 18th place
finish to lock up the Vista Paint Super Stock division title. Crutcher will
finish no worse than second in the standings if he is not able to overtake
Harrell.

Only two races are left and
62 points separate the top four drivers in the Legend Cars division standings.
Tom Landreth’s consistent performance throughout the season has kept him on top
of the standings with 653 points. Landreth of Alta Loma, Calif. holds a 42-point
lead over second place Lindsey King of Cherry Valley who has 611 points. Austin
Grabowski of Upland,
Calif. and Connor Cantrell of
Valencia, Calif. are close behind with 593 and 591 points respectively.

Two races remain in the
season and only 16 points separate first place Tyler Rogers of Riverside and second place Kevin Bernhardt of Fontana, Calif. in Snap-on Tools Mini Stock division
action. Rogers’
division leading efforts have been aided by an impressive consecutive race win
streak which ended at seven victories on August 12.

USAC Ford Focus Midgets
make a return visit to Irwindale Speedway and complete Saturday evening’s racing
schedule along with the Bandoleros.

Laidlaw’s Harley Davidson
is conducting a special ticket promotion for customers visiting the store
located in Baldwin Park,
Calif. Laidlaw’s customers will
have the opportunity to ride their Harleys on Irwindale Speedway’s half-mile
oval track during Saturday’s pre-race ceremonies.

Spectator gates open at 4
p.m. with the King Taco fan appreciation autograph session taking place on the
track at 5:45 p.m. The green flag waves for the first race at 7
p.m.

UPCOMING: Test and Tune, the popular activity held weekly takes
place this Thursday (September 14) under the lights from 5-10p.m. The activity
allows local drag racers the opportunity to race their street legal cars on
Irwindale Speedway’s 1/8-mile drag strip. It costs only $20.00 to race, $10.00
to watch ($5.00 for kids 12-6 yrs. and 5 yrs. and under are admitted for
free)….The USAC Sprint car race scheduled for October 7 has been cancelled. The
cancellation was a result of teams who were not in compliance with local sound
restrictions during the August 26 race requiring sufficient time and testing to
make exhaust modifications to their cars.

Tickets for all Irwindale
Speedway events including the October 7 Cisco Burger World Figure 8
Championships and the October 20-21 NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown are
available for purchase at the Speedway ticket office, by calling (626) 358-1100
and online at www.irwindalespeedway.com.

admission tickets for regular Saturday oval racing events when they show their
AAA membership card. Auto Club members can also receive discounts on special
offers at the concession and souvenir stands.
