The engine takes advantage of Scuderi's groundbreaking split-cycle technology, by recapturing and storing energy in the form of compressed air. Unlike conventional engines, the Scuderi Engine produces compressed air during its normal operation. While electric hybrids are struggling to reach a 50 percent increase, the Scuderi Air-Hybrid is anticipated to double the gas mileage of a vehicle and emit 80 percent less toxins while increasing power and performance. This patented design represents the most significant breakthrough for internal combustion engines to come along in decades, an advance that takes on added significance given rising fuel prices and growing environmental concerns.
