                                        Martin scores career best finish at
Jackson!

 

September 18, 2006 (Madison, WI) For the most part the 2006 World of Outlaw
season has been a tough one for the Hitman Jason Martin.  While he is only
23 years old he has been racing and winning for over 10 years, this year has
been one of learning thus far for the Rookie.  At Jackson Speedway last
Saturday night, Martin looked like anything but a rookie.  A solid
qualifying effort of 11th would see the NOS Energy Drink/Mafia Motorsports
#36 Maxim start 3rd in the 2nd heat race.

 

While running a solid 3rd and in the transfer spot in the heat race the
motor began to sputter and Martin would have to baby the car home.  The
bright spot was that there were 6 spots to transfer into the feature and
Martin brought the car home 6th and back to the attention of his crew.  A
closer observation would find a ground wire for the mag bad and the NOS
Energy Drink team would make the repairs and Martin would start 11th in the
feature.  From the drop of the green it was evident that it was going to be
a good night for Martin.

 

Using the low side of the race track Martin would begin to climb through the
field and up to 8th when a late caution would fly for debris.  On the
restart Martin began to use the high side of turns 3-4 and would pass the
Forbrook #5 and take over 7th place.  When the #8 Rush Racing would get a
flat on the last lap of the race Martin would cross the strip taking the
checkerd flag with a career best 6th place finish.

 

"That's the way it's supposed to be." Said a smilimg Martin. "Jason and the
guys gave me a great car this entire weekend.  We had a good car at Eagle
just lost the brakes in the heat and had to run the "B" and few bobbles on
my part cost us a top ten down there.  I was determined not to have that
happen tonight.  The NOS Energy Drink Maxim was on a rail tonight.  With
just a bit of luck if we could have made the Dash and started further up
front who knows, but I am not complaining.  This team is hitting on the
right combination right now and really looking forward the 2007 season."
