NHRA NORTH CENTRAL DIVISION SUMMIT FINALS KICK OFF AT ORP
INDIANAPOLIS - NHRA's top drivers from the North Central Division Summit Racing Series converged on O'Reilly Raceway Park for the 2006 Summit Racing Series Division finals today. Both team and individual honors will be awarded to racers. Categories include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Super Pro Bike and High School. High School and Junior Dragster racers in 3 age groups will also be competing. Racers are vying for cash awards totaling $70,850 with High School and Junior Dragsters competing for trophies.
Individual winners in each category will advance to a national run-off at the NHRA Auto Club of Southern California Finals at Pomona Raceway in November. In Pomona, Summit Division Champions will vie for a National Championship and a winner-take-all $5,000 award in each class. Each driver also receives an extra $3,500 just for making the trip to Pomona.
The VP Fuels Race of Champions, a race within a race, continues eliminations on Saturday and will crown four champions in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Super Pro Bike. Racing continues Saturday and Sunday. Gates at O'Reilly Raceway Park open at 7 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Time trials continue Saturday at 8 a.m. and eliminations for all categories will start at 1 p.m. O'Reilly Raceway Park is located on Indiana Highway 136, four miles west of Interstate 465 at exit 16.
