36th Annual Barrett-Jackson Auction to Feature Pair of Firearrow ''Dream'' Cars
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Sept. 15, 2006--The only convertible Dodge Firearrow concept "Dream" cars in the world will be sold at No Reserve during the 36th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event from January 13-21, 2007, in Scottsdale, Ariz. The award-winning classics will be auctioned back to back, attracting bids from collectors from around the globe. Hailed as "The World's Greatest Collector Car Events(TM)," the auction will feature more than 1,100 of the world's finest collector automobiles and attract over 225,000 visitors."It's an honor to offer these classic and highly coveted vehicles at this year's Scottsdale event," said Craig Jackson, president of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. "Bidders will have the opportunity to take home two of the rarest cars in the world, which represent the golden era of the concept car."
To create consumer excitement during 1953 and 1954, Chrysler produced four Firearrows penned by Virgil Exner. Barrett-Jackson will feature the Firearrow II and IV models, representing the key progression of the classic concept series. The Firearrow was never placed into production and most concept cars were later destroyed, adding to the rarity of these two cars.
The yellow Firearrow II roadster's elegant styling was tasteful and European in flavor. The black Firearrow IV is a two seat convertible with roll-up windows, a folding top, jump seat, radio, heater and full instrumentation.
"Both cars handle beautifully and are capable of long distance touring if desired," stated Sam Mann, owner of the Firearrows. "Along with their drivability, the cars are as sleek and stylish as they were when they were built, earning them significant show honors at Meadowbrook and the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance."
Last year, more than 300,000 attendees and millions of TV viewers saw over 1,600 cars sell for approximately $135 million at the two Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Events held in Scottsdale and Palm Beach, Fla.
