Aura Receives Order for 75 Recently Announced Gen-a-Sys Hybrid APU Systems
EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--Sept. 14, 2006--Aura Systems, Inc. (Pink Sheets:AUSI) received today an $825,000 purchase order for its hybrid Gen-a-Sys APU system announced recently. Spirit Express trucking of Denver Colorado has placed an order for 75 systems to be delivered over the next six months. The Schedule calls for delivery of the first system in October 2006 and approximately 14 systems per month thereafter.Aura's new hybrid APU system ("Gen-a-Sys") provides continuous power up to 5,000 watts of electricity with the APU engine running and 3,000 watts when the APU engine is off. The driver activates the system by a push of a button mounted next to the steering wheel. When the APU engine is on, its 5 kW of power is available both to run the electrical loads and charge up the on-board battery complement. When the APU engine is turned off, the Gen-a-Sys APU automatically and seamlessly provides power from the auxiliary battery pack that is sized to meet the operating time required by the customer. The system monitors the batteries' charge level and when the charge is low, the APU small engine automatically turns on and recharges the batteries using an optimum charging methodology. As soon as the batteries are fully charged the Gen-a-Sys APU engine automatically turns off and the system seamlessly returns to engine off mode.
Mr. Gagerman Aura's CEO said, "We are very excited about Spirit Express Trucking placing the first order of this new hybrid APU. We believe that the combined fuel saving and emissions reduction advantages of the Gen-a-Sys system could potentially result in many more orders from other trucking companies."
Mr. Paul Baumann, and Mr. Bruce Wingen, Aura's dual consultants who lead the business development and sales to the transport industry stated, "We have just started introducing Aura's Hybrid Gen-a-Sys APU system to the major fleets and we are experiencing great interest from numerous trucking operations. We expect substantial additional orders to follow over the next few months."
Mr. Ken Harp, Fleet Maintenance Manager of Spirit Express Trucking said, "We have been looking for a system like this for some time now. Based on our analysis and experience we believe that this hybrid APU system provided by Aura will pay for itself in less than a year. We fully anticipate installing this Gen-a-Sys system on most of our trucks in the very near future."
The system will allow the long haul trucker to make routine rest stops on the road and turn off his engine without giving up the use of any of the electrical appliances that ensure safe and comfortable working conditions. This will significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions during rest stops.
