Manheim Adds Toronto Auto Auction To Heavy-Duty Truck Operating Locations

ATLANTA - Manheim today announced the addition of Toronto Auto Auction to its heavy-duty truck operating locations, the company's first truck location in Canada and 11th location overall.

Though Toronto is the most recent addition to the heavy-duty truck program, the auction's experience with remarketing trucks goes back more than 20 years. Last year Toronto shifted from monthly truck sales to bimonthly sales in response to higher demand and because of continued success in the market.

"In the past two years we have refocused on truck sales and made a concerted effort to grow that area of our business," said Brad Hart, Toronto Auto Auction general manager. "We have a loyal base of dealers who have supported us for many years, but knew we needed to seek out partnerships with truck fleet operators. Our success with securing new consignors combined with our loyal customer base has greatly contributed to our recent growth and success."

Current consignors include Ryder Canada, Uhaul Company LTD, Coca-Cola, Ford Credit, Penske Truck Leasing, DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial, Volvo Finance and other regional contracts.

Joe Tavares oversees the heavy-duty trucks department at Toronto Auto Auction in addition to the Total Resource Auctions (TRA) department. Tavares joined Toronto Auto Auction more than three years ago after more than 15 years in the rental truck and logistics field.

"We plan to continue expanding our truck sales to keep up with customer demand and to add a third lane to our bimonthly truck sales in the near future," Tavares said.

Toronto Auto Auction runs truck sales concurrently with TRA sales the first and third Thursdays of every month. Dealers are able to access the sales via Manheim Simulcast.

To become a branded Manheim heavy-duty truck operating location, a facility must have the following qualities:

* have existing commercial accounts with a minimum of 75 total
units or a total offering of more than 100 units

* dedicate a specialist on-site available to customers

* accurately and professionally inspect consignment vehicles

*        offer Manheim Simulcast

* provide adequate repairs and reconditioning

*         supply customized transportation service
