Bourque Returns To NHIS; Looking Forward To Continuing Strong Runs
“Momentum Grows For NASCAR’s Only Full-Time Canadian Driver??Loudon, New Hampshire (September 12th, 2006) - - With nearly a month off from NASCAR Busch East Series competition, Pierre Bourque and the Fast Track Racing team return to a track of familiarity, New Hampshire International Speedway, for the ninth event of the season this Saturday.
In July, Bourque, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, qualified a shocking 39th but rallied back to finish a solid 26th. This time around, Bourque is determined to keep a streak of solid racing momentum going and pull together his first top-ten finish of his NASCAR career on Saturday.
“I can’t wait to get back to racing in the NASCAR Busch East Series,?? said Bourque. “In our last event at Waterford, it was a career day. I qualified a career best 17th and finished 16th. It was a long race full of plenty beating and banging, but I enjoyed it. Now we return to a Superspeedway and I’m ready.??
During the off-time, Bourque kept busy. He competed in his final CASCAR event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, where he started 14th and finished 12th. Then, it was off to Chicagoland Speedway in the ARCA RE/MAX Series where he participated in an open test session garnishing further Superspeedway experience. Despite, some rain, Bourque acquired valuable seat time on a track with speeds approaching 190mph which should have additional influence in his return to New Hampshire.
“I raced a little bit and I had some time off, so the break was good, but now I’m ready to get back to business,?? he said. “We’re back at NHIS in front of the best stock car drivers in the world and I would like to put on a good show. Andy Hillenburg and his team will give me a strong racecar and we’re all looking forward to being a threat on Saturday.?? Rolling back into New Hampshire, Bourque will arrive with some new colors and logos.
_Driving.Ca_ (http://www.driving.ca/) will adorn the primary sponsorship role this weekend. _Driving.Ca_ (http://www.driving.ca/) is Canada’s No. 1 Automotive website.
In addition, _Canada.com_ (http://www.canada.com/) , Canada's biggest online community, _Working.com_ (http://www.working.com/) , one of North America's top career sites, and _Dose.Ca,_ (http://www.dose.ca/) a cool site that caters to hip Canadian urbanites coast-to-coast, will all serve as secondary sponsors on Bourque’s machine this weekend.
All four new sponsors are part of Canwest-Global, Canada's largest media company with interests in television, radio, newspapers and the internet. All four will be backing Bourque’s remaining NASCAR Busch East season, and his ARCA run at Talladega next month. They also sponsored his 3 CASCAR events earlier this season.
“I’m looking forward to our sponsors being on the car at New Hampshire. It’ s a great racing venue for them with the amount of exposure the races bring in and the fan support and that’s crucial as we continue to spread the word about our sponsors and their excellent websites. Another solid finish would only further propel my goal. they are leaders in their respective fields, both in terms of the way they use new technologies and the way they attract a sizable user base.??
“I’m looking forward to helping them expand their reach into the North American stock car base, particularly within NASCAR's Canadian fan base, which according to public opinion polls, number some six million die-hard fans. It’s important to continue the stretch of good runs, because the fans will notice our car and take note. Our sponsors are our number one priority.?? Full Metals Minerals and Pollara Strategic Public Opinion, will also back Bourque’s racing effort this weekend as associate sponsors. “Full Metals and Pollara Strategic were onboard in the first New Hampshire race, now we’re looking forward to giving them an even better round the second time around.?? While Bourque gained some ground in the point standings at Waterford last month, he continues to control the 17th position in the championship standings, but now sits just two markers out of 16th and a mere 28 points out of the top-15.
Heading back to a track he knows for the first time this season, Bourque feels the challenge of aiming for the top-15 is easily feasible. “We are capable of finishing in the top-15, we have a good team. We’re coming into our own niche as the season dwindles down and that will only further prepare us for racing next year. We just need a clean and safe day on Saturday and I think we’ ll be in contention.??
In addition to running the full NASCAR Busch East Series in 2006, Pierre Bourque and Fast Track Racing are making limited starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Bourque also made three CASCAR Series races with Whitlock Motorsports.
