27 "WEDNESDAY NIGHT THUNDER" DATES FIRM FOR 2007!

 

 

            USAC's 2006 racing season has yet to take the checkered flag but the 2007 racing schedule for the popular "Wednesday Night Thunder" series is already set and contains 27 racing dates following a pair of April "test and tune" sessions.

 

            Anderson (Ind.) Speedway and Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. again serve as the keystone tracks on the calendar. Anderson's "test and tune" day is set for April 8 and a similar "test and tune" is slated April 15 at New Castle.

 

            The racing slate opens April 21 and Anderson and concludes Oct. 6-7 at Anderson, incorporating competition in three series: Regional Midgets, Kenyon Midgets and Indiana Ford Focus Midgets. Most of the programs are "tripleheaders" but the Kenyon and Focus cars share "doubleheaders" May 19 and Oct. 6-7 at Anderson, while the Kenyon Cars stand alone May 11, June 8, July 13, Aug. 31 and Sept. 7 at Anderson.

 

            "We've had a tremendous 2006 season so far and the participants have expressed their approval of the "Wednesday Night Thunder" series," says USAC's Eric Bunn, coordinator with race organizer Don Kenyon of the popular weekly events. "It's great to have our 2007 slate firm at this time so participants and fans can plan on the same quality entertainment package next year that they received in 2006. The competition has been spectacular, among the finest short-track racing America has to offer."

 

            The 2007 slate actually kicks off with a Saturday "tripleheader" at Anderson and includes 10 Friday or Saturday events in addition to the 17 Wednesday night programs. Venues for May 5 and June 13 events will be announced when finalized.
