General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.) Confirmed as Keynote Speaker at six sigma IQ's 2007 Six Sigma Summit

LONDON, Sept. 12 -- Today six sigma IQ, a division of IQPC, announced that General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.) has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the 8th annual Six Sigma Summit, taking place January 2007 in Miami, FL.

General Powell is scheduled to deliver his keynote presentation entitled "Leadership: Taking Charge" at the Six Sigma Summit the morning of January 24th, before enjoying a private lunch with around 20 Summit attendees.

Before becoming Secretary of State in 2001, Colin Powell served as a key aide to the Secretary of Defense and as National Security Advisor to President Reagan. He also served 35 years in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Four-Star General and serving as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989 - 1993). During this time he oversaw 28 crises to include the Panama intervention of 1989 and Operation Desert Storm in the victorious 1991 Persian Gulf War. In December 2000 General Powell was nominated by President George W. Bush for the office of Secretary of State. General Powell was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate and took office as the 65th United States Secretary of State in January 2001.
