                                      Henderson, so far so good at the Gold
Cup!

 

August 10th 2006 (Chico, CA) For World of Outlaws rookie of the year
contender, last night at the Gold Cup race of Champions went very well but
there was a hiccup along the way.  The night started on a very positive note
for the driver of the Jolt Energy Gum #D1 Schnee with the 3rd fastest time
of the night and valuable points.  The only hiccup of the evening would come
in the heat on the opening lap when the Sioux Falls native would dive low
and tangle with Brooke Tatnel suffereing a flat right front tire.  Starting
in the back of the heat, Henderson would finish 7th and be relegated to
starting on the front row of the “B” main.  

 

All was not lost however as the young hot shoe bolted to the lead on the
opening lap and never looked back, leading from green to checkers.  Starting
11th in the feature, Henderson would use the horsepower being delivered by
his Hollywood Engines to run low and high and move forward.  Capitalizing on
mistakes and using his own momentum Henderson and the Jolt Energy Gum D1
would make pass after pass and use lapped cars as cushions.  By the time the
checkers had flown the young smiling fan favorite had finished 7th and
gained more valuable points towards the big payday tomorrow night.

 

“All in all not bad.” Said a smiling Henderson. “I guess we didn’t chew
enough Jolt Energy Gum, cause I kinda goofed in the heat race.  After we
came in to change the tire the car was just too tight to pass and we had to
run the “B”.  Dad and the guys gave me a great car tonight.  For some reason
this year the short tracks have not been kind to us, and we should be
stronger.  Tonight we showed that we have learned quite a bit this season
and are stronger.  I am not sure how the points will shake out but we should
be close to being locked in the “A” tomorrow night.  This is a big money
race and when you get the chance for that kind of pay day you want to give
your self the chance to grab it.  We did that tonight.”
