STOVEPIPE WELLS, CA - September 8, 2006: In Death Valley, where temperatures normally reach above 122° F (50° C), Volvo tests its engines' ability to endure extreme driving conditions. Cars pull a fully loaded trailer uphill 14 miles (23 kilometers), where the engine, brakes and fuel system are tested for safety and durability. Volvo's advanced sensors and software work to regulate the engine so it doesn't overheat or stall.
