'Barrett-Jackson: On the Road' to Begin Filming New PEE Show at Lowe's Motor Speedway

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Sept. 7, 2006--The inaugural filming of Barrett-Jackson: On the Road, a new TV program produced by SPEED, will take place at the Food Lion Auto Fair at Lowe's Motor Speedway on Sept. 14-17, 2006, in Concord, N.C. Craig Jackson, president of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co., along with other Barrett-Jackson experts Steve Davis and Gary Bennett, will decode cars, make comparisons, offer evaluations and make recommendations to car owners in front of a live audience.

"Barrett-Jackson: On the Road will illustrate the detailed aspects of car collecting, and how to take a vintage automobile to the next level," said Jackson. "We're going to roll up our sleeves and demonstrate to the audience and car owners what we look for when consigning a vehicle to a Barrett-Jackson Event."

"SPEED is extremely excited about expanding our Barrett-Jackson based programming," said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP Programming & Production and Executive Producer. "Nobody serves the car collectors like Barrett-Jackson and SPEED. This is our first attempt to bring that experience to regional collector car events. We hope this is the jumping-off point for an expanded SPEED and Barrett-Jackson presence."

The relationship between SPEED and Barrett-Jackson has grown from its inaugural five-hour broadcast back in 1997. Since, SPEED has added the Barrett-Jackson: Palm Beach event and a weekly Thursday highlight show, Barrett-Jackson: The Auctions. Along with Barrett-Jackson: On the Road, which debuts in January, SPEED will broadcast five new episodes of Barrett-Jackson: Life on the Block prior to the more than 40 hours of LIVE coverage originating from the 2007 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The show will be filmed on a production stage near the NASCAR Busch Series garage at Lowe's Motor Speedway, where Jackson and his team will review various American and international makes and models. Filming times are scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 16, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 17. The Food Lion Auto Fair draws thousands of people to Lowe's Motor Speedway every year, providing Barrett-Jackson with an ideal landscape of filming opportunities.

"The Food Lion Auto Fair attracts a wide variety of collector vehicles and dedicated owners to a perfect setting for the introduction of our new show," said Jackson. "There's nothing like sharing stories and details about vintage cars with other enthusiasts during a special automotive weekend. Finding owners who are as passionate about their vehicles as we are is the focus of the search."

Unsuspecting car owners will receive information on vintage automotive collecting, restoration and decoding, which includes the verification of authenticity of each selected automobile.

Barrett-Jackson continually reaffirms its leadership position in the collector car market by elevating consignment standards, breaking annual records and serving as the barometer for market trends. Barrett-Jackson: On the Road will continue that tradition by providing car collectors with key information that will help them advance in the hobby.

The Barrett-Jackson: On the Road episodes will air on SPEED prior to the coverage of the 36th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event on Jan. 13, 2007-21, 2007, in Scottsdale, Ariz. SPEED will feature 40 hours of live coverage from the auction that will include more than 1,100 of the world's finest collector automobiles and is expected to attract more than 225,000 visitors.
