Solidica Awarded $1.9M to Apply Award Winning Wireless Sensor Technology for Military Ground Vehicle Platforms

Technology Seeks to Find Rapid Deployment in Combat and Logistics Operations

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 6 -- Solidica, Inc. announced today the award of a $1.9 million, twelve month contract with the United States Marine Corps to implement an ultra-rugged wireless sensor system for the Marine Corps Light Armored Vehicle fleet. Based upon the proprietary Solidica Pantheon(TM) sensor system, the project will support the military's Condition Based Maintenance and Sense and Respond programs. The broad arrays of vehicle data that will be tracked include challenging items such as the temperature and vibration of the vehicles eight external planetary gears, to onboard vehicle weapons systems, to more conventional items such as fuel level and overall engine health.

Utilizing the most advanced techniques from the automotive and aerospace industries, the Pantheon platform will gather all available wired and wireless sensor data, initiate local prognostic algorithms and execute corrective system actions. Significantly, all of this will occur without requiring the direct involvement of vehicle operators, even while transmitting live and historical data from the field to both regional and global stakeholders. A key element to the program also includes the utilization of ultra rugged embedding methods through the application of the Solidica Ultrasonic Consolidation process. This unique approach has been shown to be capable of manufacturing the sensors directly within high value components to securely track their health, identification, location, and historical performance.

Ken Johnson, Vice President for Strategic Development notes, "We are extremely pleased that the Marine Corps has selected Solidica for this critical project. Beyond the powerful utility of employing our unique technology to support their targeted initiatives we firmly believe Pantheon can serve as the next generation vehicle network and sensing backbone for all of the military's maintenance, logistics, and operations programs, both wired and wireless."
