WESTERN SPRINTS PREP FOR SHASTA SEPT. 23
GREEN, GALEDRIGE TAKE USAC/CASA FEATURES AT TRACY & MADERA
The battle for the USAC Western Sprint Car Championship will take a three-week hiatus as drivers and teams prepare for a Sept. 23 race at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif.
Tony Hunt leads the USAC standings by 107 points over Mike Murgoitio after a pair of weekend races co-sanctioned by USAC and CASA. Hunt finished second and fourth respectively at Tracy and Madera, Calif., while Murgoitio was third and seventh in the two features.
Nick Green of San Jose, Calif. won Saturday's "Best of the West Open Wheel Classic" 50-lapper at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, while Bradley Galedrige of Los Altos, Calif. won Monday's "Trigueiro Classic" 50-lapper at the Madera Speedway. Both drivers led wire-to-wire to post their wins.
Trailing Green at Tracy were Hunt, Murgoitio, Kody Swanson and Tim Barber. At Madera, Swanson finished second ahead of Nick Rescino Jr., Hunt and Greg Anderson.
