Vincec, Grist, Hibbs, Gibson and Holman take wins
Outstanding racing on Sunday highlights the weekend

MOSPORT, ONTARIO – The weather was the big story on the weekend. Rain, more
rain, and more rain was the order of the day until Sunday afternoon. The
weather changes shuffled the grid, which made for great racing. Mike Vincec
built on his recent Canadian National Championship by winning Formula
Senior. Garrett Grist won Canada Junior Light, while Richard Hibbs took his
first F1-K Senior win. Dylan Gibson had the drive of the day by winning the
Rotax Jr final from eighth on the grid. Chris Holman clean swept the World
Formula Senior class.
Formula Senior
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Mike Vincec
Mike Vincec went from pole to win in the Formula Senior prefinal. Behind
Vincec was Curtis Fox, some seven seconds behind. Kyle Marcelli spun and
ended up 8th. Rounding out the top five were Launi, Usher and Johnston. In
the final, it took awhile for Vincec to arrive at the front because of his
tire choice. Vincec opted to start on dry tires on the drying track. That
let Frank Launi and Curtis Fox disappear off into the distance in the early
going. As the track dried, Vincec’s pace went up and he passed Fox then
Launi for the lead. Launi held of for third, behind Vincec and Kyle
Marcelli, who was also on dry tires.

Canada Junior Light
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Ryan Klutt
Ryan Klutt won the Canada Junior prefinal by 7. 269 seconds over Reid
Arnold. Third was Anthony Furfari, Garrett Grist was fourth and Austin
Milwain fifth. In the final, Garrett Grist took the win by 0.143 over Reid
Arnold and Ryan Klutt. Dylan Van Tienen and Austin Milwain rounded out the
top five.

F1-K Senior
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Matt France
Mike Vincec won his second prefinal of the day when he won by 8.081 seconds
over Matt France in F1-K Senior. Richard Hibbs was third, Peter Courteau
fourth, and Robb Ronnenberg was fifth. In the final, Richard Hibbs took his
first win of the year in F1-K Senior. Hibbs won by an impressive 11.503
seconds over Mike Vincec and Michael Deaves. DJ Cook and Robb Ronnenberg
rounded out the top five.

Rotax Max Junior
Pfaff Fast Qualifier; Jesse Facchini
Kevin Monteith won the prefinal by 4.441 seconds over Cory Luciano in Rotax
Max Jr. Kenny Riedmann was third, Jesse Facchini fourth and Gary Klutt
fifth. Rounding out the top 10 were; Joshua Korenyi, Keenan Harris, Dylan
Gibson, Cameron Hogg and Jim Souch. Dylan Gibson put in a good day’s work.
After qualifying 11th, and finishing the prefinal in 8th, Gibson took the
win in the Rotax Jr final. Behind Gibson came Kenny Reidmann and Joshua
Gilbert. Cory Luciano was fourth and Gregory Brenzil was fifth.

The Pratt & Miller Team Spirit award which is awarded to the team that
exhibits the highest levels of teamwork in the areas of presentation,
preparation and results, went to Dylan Gibson, who qualified 11th in Rotax
Jr, and ended up winning the final.

GM Racing awards for outstanding skills went to Cameron Motorsports on a
day that former CMI driver Robert Wickens won the Formula BMW championship
next door at the big track. The objective of the series is to help drivers
move up the ladder and no one could argue that CMI has done an excellent
job at that.

The objective of the SRFKC is to help foster a professional environment for
kart drivers; help create a positive attitude towards appearance, conduct
and discipline; help foster the employment of the best practices for the
safe and fair running of competitions; and help kart drivers to move up the
racing ladder to automobile racing.
