Latest BRUT Fragrance Featured On New Blue Car In Qualifying
CLERMONT, Ind. (Sept. 1, 2006) - The unveiling of the BRUT
Revolution Dodge Charger Funny Car made for a spectacular "Blue Light Show"
Friday night in the first professional qualifying round at the 52nd annual
U.S. Nationals drag races at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.
The unveiling took center stage at the starting line Friday
night with fireworks, smoke and the change from green to blue for Ron Capps'
popular nitro-burning Funny Car.
Based on the new Helen of Troy fragrance, BRUT Revolution, the
latest DSR Funny Car's livery features a beautiful blue and silver paint
scheme that has been kept under wraps for weeks and ties into the launch of
the company's product nationwide. The U.S. Nationals fans received a
"close-up" view of the new BRUT Revolution car following the 4.730 seconds,
324.67 m.p.h. qualifying debut of the car.
"I have been in green (with Brut Original and SkoaI) for nearly
10 years so it is a little weird to be in a blue car and blue uniform," said
Capps, who placed third in the opening round of qualifying. "But the new
BRUT Revolution colors look awesome and the car ran well in the night
session. The spectators enjoyed the unveiling and the new look. We have
waited for a long time to unveil the new car and it feels good to have the
car make the first pass."
Capps, crew chief Ed "the Ace" McCulloch and the BRUT Revolution
crew looked primed Friday night with the new mount in an effort to take
Capps to his first U.S. Nationals title. Capps, a 22-time NHRA national race
winner, and McCulloch, the six-time U.S. Nationals titleholder, are looking
for their sixth 2006 Funny Car win in the U.S. Nationals.
"It was a pretty good run with the new BRUT Revolution Dodge," said
McCulloch, a 22-time NHRA national race winner as a driver. "There is a lot
of build-up entering the week here at Indy. I'm glad we're back on the track
and in competition. Now we will begin tuning the car for the weekend. This
is always long, hard event. The new BRUT Revolution colors look great out
there tonight."
Qualifying for the U.S. Nationals continues Saturday with two rounds for the
Funny Cars with Sunday's action highlighted by the eight-driver "Skoal
Showdown" bonus race. The U.S. Nationals final eliminations begin at 11 a.m.
on Monday, Sept. 4.
