(September 1, 2006) - Running a track record elapsed time, Jason Line drove his KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pontiac GTO to the No. 1 spot after the first of five qualifying sessions. "There were a lot of cars running well out there tonight, we just happened to be the lucky one that came out the best," said Line following the single qualifying session tonight. "The starting line was really good and with the set up we had on this Summit Pontiac we were able to take advantage of it and ran a good number. Now we need to take our data and improve the performance of both cars tomorrow." Line's teammate Greg Anderson recorded a run of 6.700 seconds at 205.85 mph, good for the sixth spot. The NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point championship has come down to six races and it is anybody's game. Entering the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals, Line, in first, leads teammate Greg Anderson, who holds the No. 2 spot, by 121 points and third place Dave Connolly by 171 points. Kurt Johnson is fourth, 277 points back and Jim Yates rounds out the top five in fifth, 317 points behind the leader. Qualifying at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals continues tomorrow (Saturday) for Line and his KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac GTO with two Pro Stock sessions scheduled for 1 and 6:15 p.m. and concludes with two additional Pro Stock sessions on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Line then begins his quest for the Top Fuel title on Monday, Sept. 4, with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. All times are local Indianapolis time (ET) and subject to change at anytime.
