Krohn Racing Announces Plans for 2007

Krohn Racing Entries Will Start from Sixth and 24th Positions for Grand American Finale

Tooele, Utah…The Krohn Racing team, owned by Houston-based Tracy Krohn, announced the team will field a 2-car Daytona Prototype program in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series for the 2007 season. “After one season, we have exceeded our expectation for the first year. Our drivers and crew have put in a maximum effort this year,?? said owner/driver Tracy Krohn. “Although we are pleased with this year’s results, we are not yet the best team in pit road or at the standard we want to be and one way to achieve those standards is continuity of the program. Therefore we have committed to continue a 2-car Daytona Prototype program as the foundation for our motorsports activities.?? “The fans can expect to see us at Daytona for the 24 Hours with a 2-car team. In due course we will announce the driver line-up for Daytona and the season,?? added Krohn. “We recognize the Grand American series is growing. We expect to stand hand-in-hand with the series for years to come in the continued hope that the tremendous potential the series demonstrates will be realized and benefit all involved.?? ***

The pole winner during qualifying for the Grand American 9-Hour finale at MillerMotorsportsPark was defending champion Scott Pruett in the No. 01 Ganassi Lexus Riley entry. Jörg Bergmeister qualified the No. 76 Krohn Racing Ford Riley in the sixth position with a time of 2:39.196. Bergmeister will team with Colin Braun and Nic Jönsson in the No. 76 entry. The No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Riley will start from the 24th position with qualifying driver Tracy Krohn, along with Max Papis and Boris Said. Krohn’s qualifying time was a 2:45.064.

Jörg Bergmeister, qualifying driver of the No. 76 Krohn Racing Ford Riley: “I’m not real happy with qualifying sixth. We didn’t get a lot of testing so we’re trying to make it work. I think for the race we’ll have a good car. It will be a good race. Traffic is not too bad but the best chance for passing is in traffic. It’s not easy to get a good run though. We’ll make the most of it. In the dark I think it will be pretty scary. Nic drove last night and said it was difficult to see the flag stations because it gets so dusty. It’s also tough to find the marks on the track because it’s really flat.??

Tracy Krohn, qualifying driver of the No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Riley: “I’m relatively pleased with qualifying. The car was good, a little pushy. It will be a good car for the race. It feels good. It was balanced. There’s nothing we can’t change quickly. I think it will be a fun race. It’s nine hours of racing and passing will be hard. The last 30 minutes in the dark will be chaos.??

Krohn Racing’s Jörg Bergmeister must finish 14th or higher to capture the Daytona Prototype Driver’s Championship. In simple terms, the No. 76 Krohn Racing Ford Riley entry must finish four to eight places ahead of the championship leading No. 01 Ganassi Lexus Riley, depending on the finishing position, to win the DP Team Championship. The Krohn team is also focused on the No. 75 Krohn Racing entry finishing in the Top 15 of the Hoosier Pacesetter teams to enjoy the benefits.
