Brandon Whitt Heading For Chicagoland Speedway For First ARCA
RE/MAX Start
“Brandon Whitt Racing to make debut at fast 1.5-mile facility??
MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (August 30, 2006) -- NASCAR race winner Brandon
Whitt has announced that he will be making the trek to Chicagoland Speedway
for the running of the ARCA SK Hand Tool 200 on September 9th, 2006.
Whitt, 23, will attempt to make his first career start in the ARCA RE/MAX
Series in the No. 51 Brandon Whitt Racing Dodge Charger, as well as his first
career start at the challenging 1.5-mile facility in Joliet, Illinois.
"I'm excited to get back behind the wheel and get racing again," Whitt said.
"This is a great opportunity for me and for my new Brandon Whitt Racing
team. I feel we have assembled a good team that's backed by a lot of knowledge
and experience."
The El Cajon, California native has acquired an appetite for big, fast
tracks from two seasons in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, where he won two
pole positions and a thrilling victory at Memphis Motorsports Park. He also
accumulated some valuable test time at Chicagoland Speedway in his Craftsman Truck
which should help him and his new team get up to speed quickly.
"I have never raced at Chicagoland Speedway but I have done quite a few
tests there in the truck and I really like the place," continued Whitt. "The
track is somewhat unique but I feel like it suits my driving style -- it's fast,
it has several grooves, and it should produce some good racing. I can't wait
until the green flag."
The SK Hand Tool 200 (134 laps/200 miles) is the 20th of 23 events on the
2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. Practice begins Friday, September 8th with a
two hour (2:30pm-4:30pm EST) session planned. Pork pole qualifying is on tap
later that afternoon (6:30pm). The race is set to take the green flag the
next day. SPEED will have live coverage of the event Saturday, September 9th
beginning at 2:00pm EST. In addition to SPEED, _arcaracing.com_
