Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship alumni to hit Mosport this weekend

TORONTO, ONTARIO – Canadian racer Ron Fellows is about to see the fruits of
five years of hard work come true this weekend at Mosport, site of the
Mobil 1 presents the Labour Day Weekend Grand Prix of Mosport. Five years
ago, Fellows, along with Sunoco and ASN Canada FIA formed the Sunoco Ron
Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels (SRFKC), and
this weekend, graduates of the series, along with the karting series itself
will all be racing at Mosport International Raceway.

“To see what we have been able to do over the last five years all in one
place will be amazing,” Fellows says of the upcoming weekend. “We have a
goal of helping young Canadian racers, and this weekend, what we have
accomplished can all be seen in one place – Mosport.”
Fellows will do battle in his C6-R Compuware Corvette in the American Le
Mans series race, and in GM Racing’s Cadillac CTS-V in Speed GT. SRFKC
alumni will be in action in the Formula BMW USA series. Formula BMW USA
points leader, and Canada’s only Red Bull driver Robert Wickens, AIM
Autosport driver Daniel Morad and Gelles Racing’s Maxime Pelletier are all
SRFKC past champions. Atlantic Racing Team’s Philip Major is also a SRFKC
graduate.

“We all got our start in motorsports in Ron’s series,” says Morad. “Ron has
been very hands on with us, helping us out all he can, and this weekend we
will race our season finale on the same track as him, on the same weekend.”

ASN Canada FIA VP of Competition, and SRFKC administrator Paul Cooke is
anxious to see how the graduates fair this weekend. “There is no doubt that
the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship has produced some of the best
up and coming Canadian talent,” Cooke said. “To see them all here this
weekend will be a thrill not only to Canadian race fans, but to our current
karting competitors, who are competing this weekend on the Driver
Development track.”

Race fans can catch the next Canadian stars of motorsport on the Driver
Development track at Mosport that is hosting round five of the Sunoco Ron
Fellows Karting Championship this weekend. Fans can then see if the SRFKC
alumni can capture a Formula BMW USA championship, and watch Ron himself
try to do the ‘double’ by winning the Speed GT race and the GT1 class in
American Le Mans series.
