NORWALK RACEWAY PARK TO HOST AN NHRA POWERADE DRAG RACING SERIES EVENT
IN 2007
The Northern Ohio facility joins NHRA Member Track Network
GLENDORA, Calif. (Aug. 29, 2006) - NHRA announced the addition of
Norwalk Raceway Park to the NHRA member track network, and the popular
drag racing facility in Northern Ohio will host an NHRA POWERade Drag
Racing Series event in 2007.
Norwalk Raceway Park is located just outside the metropolitan areas of
Cleveland and Toledo and not far from Detroit and Columbus. The NHRA
POWERade Drag Racing Series, the foremost drag racing series in the
country, features the biggest names in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock
and Pro Stock Motorcycle including: John Force, Tony Schumacher, Melanie
Troxel, Brandon Bernstein, Doug Kalitta, Ron Capps, Gary Scelzi, Greg
Anderson, Warren Johnson, Jason Line, Andrew Hines, Angelle Sampey and
Antron Brown, to name a few.
The date of the national event at Norwalk Raceway Park will be announced
on Wednesday, Aug. 30 as part of a press conference in downtown
Indianapolis that will unveil the 2007 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series
schedule, as well as preview the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals
this weekend at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.
"Adding Norwalk Raceway Park to the NHRA member track network and
awarding this premier facility with an NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series
national event optimizes our current schedule to reach our fans
throughout the state of Ohio and Southern Michigan," said Tom Compton,
president, NHRA.

sport of drag racing to the fans throughout Ohio and Southern Michigan,"
said Bill Bader, Jr., president, Norwalk Raceway Park. With the move to
NHRA, Norwalk Raceway Park has extensive plans for major improvements
and enhancements to accommodate the needs of the number of participants
and fans synonymous with an NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event.
Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., NHRA is the primary sanctioning body
for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23
national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. NHRA has
80,000 racers and members nationwide and 140 member tracks.
NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series' provide competition
opportunities for drivers of all levels. NHRA develops the stars of
tomorrow by offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Xplod
Sport Compact Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series and the NHRA
Street Legal Drags presented by AAA. NHRA also offers the O'Reilly Auto
Parts Jr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
