Pipas to Discuss Challenges Facing the Current SUV Market

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29 -- At September's Motor Press Guild (MPG) luncheon, George Pipas, Ford Motor Company's well-known manager of U.S. sales analysis and reporting, will be the organization's featured speaker. His presentation will focus on one of Ford's most important vehicle segments, the SUV market. He'll take a brief look at the history of the SUV market, the evolution of that group and his predictions for the segment through the end of the decade. In addition, he will review how gas prices are affecting the small-car, full-size pick-up truck and SUV markets.

Pipas will also address the rationale behind Ford's recent announcement regarding production cuts and how they are closely tied to Ford's Way Forward Acceleration Plan.

For nearly ten years, George Pipas has been the manager of U.S. sales analysis and reporting at Ford Motor Company. During that time he has worked closely with financial and business media, investors, and security analysts, communicating current and future U.S. automotive market trends.

Pipas joined Ford Motor Company in 1976 and has since worked in various areas of the organization including finance, communications, and sales and marketing. He began his career as a financial analyst in Ford's finance department. Pipas was appointed manager of U.S. sales analysis and reporting in 1997.
