3 Day York County Nationals At SSP This Week

Three Great Days of Racing at SSP's York County Nationals This Week

NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (August 21, 2006) - An exciting three days of racing at the Susquehanna Speedway Park will take place this week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with the York County Nationals. This event will highlight all of the exciting racing divisions of SSP with all point championship culminating at the end of the event.

DAY 1 - Thursday night, August 31 (Raindate to be announced)

On Thursday, August 31, the Sprint Cars return with three feature events on the same night. Also competing will be the Xtreme Stock Cars (no XSC Rookie Rumble) and the Legends Cars Dirt Nationals Qualifier event.

The starting lineup for the makeup Sprint Car feature event postponed due to rain on Thursday, June 22 will be: 1) 07 Mark Coldren; 2) 3 Bob Bennett; 3) 89 Cody Darrah; 4) 25 Lance Dewease; 5) 11c Cory Haas; 6) x Bob Weaver; 7) 12c Blaine Heimbach; 8) 77 Greg Hodnett; 9) 22 Fred Rahmer; 10) 12 Chad Layton; 11) 51 Karl Baker; 12) 69 Michael Carber; 13) 7c Dave Cordier Jr.; 14) 7m Mike Mansfield; 15) 33 Scott Lutz; 16) 28h Billy Hetzel Jr.; 17) 66 Roger Fickett; 18) 28 Chad Jumper.

The restart order for the Sprint Car make-up feature (from August 10) with 9 laps complete will be: 1. Doug Esh, 2. Blaine Heimbach, 3. Chad Jumper, 4. Michael Carber, 5. Scott Lutz, 6. Bobby Weaver, 7. Dave Cordier, 8. Jim Nace, 9. Andy McKisson, 10. Cory Haas, 11. Daryl Stimeling, 12. Cody Darrah, 13. Karl Baker, 14. A.J. Michael, 15. Gordon Sonft, 16. Billy Heltzel, 17. Mark Coldren, 18. Alan Krimes (-5 laps), 19. Mike Whitebread (-5 laps), 20. Mike Mansfield (-7 laps).

The third feature will pay the regular purse of $3,500 to win for the 25-lap National Event (originally scheduled for 32 laps). The starting lineup for the feature event will be determined with the "King of the Posse Match Races" for the top five in points after the second makeup feature is completed. The top five in points will square off in one-on-one 2 lap races along with the three heat race winners in a single elimination 8-driver tournament. The winner of the tournament will be awarded the pole position for the York County Nationals and $300.00. The King of the Posse tournament will determine the top 8 positions for the feature and the remainder of the field will line up "heads up" based off of heat and consolation finishes. Twenty cars will take the green for the York County Nationals feature event. Heat race lineups will be determined by a blind draw at the beginning of the evening.

The Xtreme Stock Cars will lineup based on total points for the season with the point leader starting on the pole position. The winner will also receive $300.00 to win the feature event. There will be no XSC "Rookie Rumble" feature however all Rookie Rumble drivers may tag the rear of the Xtreme Stock Car feature without jeopardizing their "Rookie Rumble" status.

The Legends Cars feature will also be an INEX Dirt National Qualifier in which the first Pro, Semi-Pro and Master drivers in the feature will receive provisional starting spots in the A-Main of the Legends Cars Dirt Nationals at the Lucas Oil Speedway in October.

Gates will open for both the pit area and grandstand area at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31. Warmups begin at 6:45 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:00 p.m. (This is a change from the normal starting time).

Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday, August 31 are Adults - $18.00; Teens (13 - 17) - $12.00 and Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced rate for SSP license holders.

There will be an SSP Repeat Fan Discount of $2.00 for each person with a ticket stub from August 10, August 24 or August 25 events for August 31. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30.00 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.

DAY 2 - Friday night, September 1 (Raindate - Sunday, Sept. 3)

On Friday, September 1, the Trail Motors Super Sportsman, Street Stocks and Four Cylinder Stock Cars return in action along with a York Haven Auto Sales Women on Wheels Mini Van Race.

The Trail Motors Super Sportsman event has been reduced from 75 laps to 50 laps as a request of the car owners and drivers to save money during these tough economic times.

The total purse for the 24 starters is $9,000.00 paying $2,000.00 the winner and $150.00 to start the race. The normal handicapping system will be used to set all heat and feature event lineups. The first 40 of the 50 laps counted for the feature event will be all green and yellow flag laps. The final 10 laps will be green flag laps only. A fuel stop is not scheduled unless needed.

The Street Stocks will be handicapped through the season long points handicapping process. The Street Stock feature event will pay a special $500.00 to win. The heats for the Four Cylinders will be be derived through a blind draw. The winner of the Four Cylinder Stock Cars will receive $300.00.

Friday night will also be the final round of the Clean Technologies Young Guns Series for all Street Stock drivers who are 21 years of age and younger to compete in a five lap dash race. The winner of the dash will receive $100.00 with second place collecting $50.00. Both third and fourth place finishers will receive $25.00 each. The driver with the best cumulative finishes over the four race series will receive $200.00. The current point standings after two rounds are 1. Chad Smith (24); 2. Eric Walker (22); 3. Joey Hoffer (20); 4. Dave Thompson, Tim Drawbaugh and Jenn Scott (3). All Young Guns drivers will also receive trophies compliments of WRS Motorsports.

On Saturday, September 2, the ARDC Midgets, Late Models and Classic Cars will be on the racing card.

The ARDC Midgets will compete in Twin 20 lap features and the Late Models will compete in a 40-lap main event. The first 30 laps will count all green and yellow flag laps. The final 10 laps will be all green flag laps. The Late Model feature event will pay $1,000 to the winner and the lineups will be derived from the normal handicapping procedure. The Classic Cars feature will also be increased to 20 laps.

SSP Pit Notes

 

Speedway Flea Market Continues Every Sunday - The "new" Speedway Flea Market 
continues every Sunday morning 6:00 a.m.  There will be plenty of things for 
everyone.  Vendor fees are $10.00 per day and setup begins at 5:30 a.m.  
Space will be limited to a "reasonable" amount for each vendor.  
Food and drink vendors are not permitted.  This flea market will continue every 
Sunday throughout the rest of the year.

 

Racecar Flea Market on Saturday, November 4 - SSP will host a racecar flea market 
with all forms of racing welcome on Saturday, November 4.  Vendor fees are $10.00 
per day and setup begins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday night.  Plenty of "bargains" for 
the 2007 season will be available.

 

Golf Tournament Postponed Until 2007 - The Inaugural York County Nationals Golf 
Tournament scheduled for Wednesday, August 30 at the Valley Green Golf Course has 
been postponed until a date to be announced in 2007.
