China Southern Now Offering Internet E-Boarding Passes

GUANGZHOU, China, August 23, 2006 - China Southern Airlines, - www.cs-air.com/en - with the largest and most technically advanced aircraft fleet in The People's Republic of China is pleased to announce that passengers may now select their seat and print out their boarding pass on the airline’s Chinese web site at www.cs-air.com.

Passengers may now complete their check-in procedure at home or in the office - wherever you have Internet access. You can select your seat in any part of the cabin of service you have selected, First, Business or Economy. Once you have selected your seat just print out your boarding pass and then go directly to the airport.

Passengers originating from Guangzhou with an E-ticket will be able to enjoy this convenient service … all that is needed is a computer with Internet access and a printer. Instead of waiting online in the terminal for your boarding pass, you can easily complete your check in procedure on the China Southern Airlines’ Chinese website at www.cs-air.com.

China Southern has test marketed its E-Boarding system for months - and since this system is brand new - the airline is temporarily rolling it out first to its China Southern Pearl Club members who purchase tickets via the Internet and on flights from Guangzhou to Beijing, Changsha, Shanghai and Wuhan (specifically CZ3101; CZ3103; CZ3109; CZ3503; CZ3523; CZ3376 and CZ3350). After a period of time for additional real-time testing, this system will apply to all flights originating from Guangzhou - and afterwards to all worldwide China Southern flights.

Early in July, Mr. Wu Yong Ming, General Manager of China Unicom Guangdong Branch became the first to use E-check in service in Chinese Civil Aviation history. In a ceremony to honor the event, China Southern demonstrated the procedure of E-check in service via the Internet, it only took less than two minutes for Mr. Wu to login and print out his boarding pass. 

China Southern has been building its service upon reliable, on time and convenient air transportation while consistently promoting service innovations. 

The following is a timeline of key IT services launched by China Southern Airlines:

December 18, 1996 - China Southern became the first airline in China to open city check in service for passengers to complete check in procedure while in their downtown Guangzhou hotel;

November 11, 2004 - China Southern offered instant check in services at the new Baiyun International Airport where today passengers can check in at any domestic check in counter for any China Southern flight;

October 28, 2005 - China Southern launched its E-ticket self check in service and became the first carrier in China to offer E-ticker passenger airport check.
