Soloists Scramble For Points in Final ProSolo Round at Wendover

Soloists Scramble For Points in Final ProSolo Round at Wendover

WENDOVER, Utah (Aug. 23, 2006) - Soloists were feeling the heat at Round
Nine of the Tire Rack(r) SCCA ProSolo National series, but was it the
desert location or the last chance to score points before the season
finale causing the perspiration?

Gary Thomason, of Oceanside, Calif., was one of those making the most of
the final ProSolo round. Driving the Kumho/TriPoint/Bogart Racing
Wheels Porsche GT3, Thomason scored his second Super Stock class win,
and moved into a three-way tie at the top of the SS point sheets, on the
way to winning his first Hawk Super Challenge of 2006 over that Solo
powerhouse otherwise known as Andy Hollis.

No sympathy needed for Hollis though, the Texan snagged his sixth Street
Touring(r) 2 class win in a row behind the wheel of his infamous
Soulspeed/ART/GRM Mazda Miata. That makes it seven STS2 wins for Hollis
this year, who also won his third Honda Street Challenge at Wendover.

Another familiar name in ProSolo, Keven Dietz, of Federal Way, Wash.,
was able to take home his third consecutive C Stock win in the Jim's
Detail/Evolution Pontiac Solstice. Without enough C Stock competitors to
qualify for the Hawk Super Challenge, Dietz advanced to the Bonus
Challenge, where he finished second.

Rumor has it we might be seeing Laura Molleker at the ProSolo Finale in
September. The Granite Falls, Wash., resident and Ladies 1 competitor is
now rethinking her plans to skip the finale after she drove her
Medallion Healthy Homes Dodge SRT 4 to a class and Ladies Challenge
victory for the second time in as many tries.

In Ladies 2 action, Encinitas, Calif., resident Leslie Ann Cohen, took
win number three of the season in her Leslie Cohen Design/Brindle Racing
Chevrolet Camaro despite the fact that her car broke before she could
make her last right-course run. Cohen had to borrow a stock Camaro for
the Ladies Challenge, but still managed to finish second.

The closest finish of the day came from dueling MINI Coopers in the H
Stock class, where Keith Brown, of Des Moines, Wash., powered his Team
RH/Jim's Detail/K&K Racing MINI Cooper to a 0.055-second victory over
the Mini of Charleston/MINIUSA.com MINI Cooper of Philidelphia, Pa.,
resident Jeff Jacobs. Brown now has four H Stock wins to his name.

Quite a few drivers now find themselves with two class victories heading
into the finale including: Jonathan Roberts, of Richmond Hills, Ga., in
his A Stock McGeorge Toyota Subaru STi; Kinch Reindl, of Denver, Colo.,
in his D Stock RiptideHosting.com Acura Integra R; Graeme Weston-Lewis,
of Loveland, Colo., in his G Stock Built by Bones/Generic Racing MINI
Cooper S; Mark Sipe, of Reno, Nev., in his Street Touring Ultra Koni
Racing Shocks Mazda RX8; Randy Chase of San Diego, Calif., in his
ChaseCam/Blackwatch Racing Lotus Elise; Paul Russell, also of Sand
Diego, in his Formula 125 Seventh-Gear Karting CRG Honda; and Erik
Strelnieks, of Austin, Texas, in his Street Modified 2 Jungle Cat
Racing/7 Parts Mazda 3-Rotor R, who already has two wins in the G Stock
class as well.

With the regular season wrapped up, soloists will have to wait until the
season finale in September to crown champions. The Tire Rack(r) SCCA
ProSolo Finale will take place Sept. 24th and 25th at Heartland Park in
Topeka, Kan. For series information and event results please visit
