CSXI Celebrates National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 23 -- CSX Intermodal, one of the nation's largest coast-to-coast intermodal transportation providers, has geared up to participate in the National Truck Driver Appreciation Week from Aug. 20, 2006-26.

"At CSXI, we realize the value of strong relationships and the importance of teamwork to be able to safely and efficiently deliver goods through a network of more than 40 terminals across North America," said Jim Hertwig, president-CSXI. "Although our appreciation for truck drivers is felt year-round, we look forward to this formal opportunity to say thanks to them for a job well done."

CSXI is flying banners, providing food and distributing gift items to convey thanks to truckers who serve its terminals across the network. Hertwig and Mike Palendat, assistant vice president-Trucking, will host a cookout at CSXI's largest terminal, Chicago's Bedford Park, on Aug. 22 and at the Little Ferry, N.J., terminal on Aug. 23.

CSXI has over 300 dedicated intermodal trains a week and in 2005 handled nearly 2.2 million containers and trailers. Trucks used to be the major competitors for railroads, but the several business trends have combined to make them allies in meeting America's transportation needs.
