Škoda Auto Produces 100,000th Škoda Superb

UKRAINE - August 22, 2006: The 100,000th Suberb, top-of-the-line Škoda model, left the Škoda Auto assembly line in Kvasiny on 17 August. The saloon was fitted with a petrol 1.8 Turbo/110 kW engine and ordered by Golden Telecom, a key fleet customer of the brand in the Ukraine.

During the ceremony, Horst Mühl, Member of the Board of Directors of Škoda Auto, a.s. responsible for production and logistics, said, “The decision to produce an upper-medium class car strengthened Škoda's position in demanding markets and significantly contributed to the growth of its value and prestige. The fact that the Superb model successfully established itself despite competition from luxury brands confirms our opinion that Škoda's return to the higher class was logical and correct.”

Since the end of 2001, when it was first marketed, the Škoda Superb has undergone a number of comparative tests in international motoring media, where, thanks to its quality, efficiency and value for money, it has defeated competing cars from traditional brands.

The Superb also won several important international awards. In Great Britain it won the title “The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year” in 2003, the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers declared it “Luxury Car of the Year 2004”; the Škoda Superb has been named the “Car of the Year” in Yugoslavia and the Ukraine, the “Managers' Car of the Year” in Lithuania and “Most Popular Car of the Year in the Czech Republic. In addition, the Superb finished a close second in the “Medium and Medium-High Class Car” category of the prestigious “Golden Steering Wheel” in Germany competition and fourth overall in the Europe-wide “Auto 1” car poll.

A Škoda Superb is also used by the president of the Czech Republic, Václav Klaus. Škoda produced a prestige car with the same name – the Škoda Superb – between 1934 and 1949.

An updated version of the four-door Škoda Superb saloon, which has an extraordinary amount of interior space and a wealth of accessories, with a number of design and technical changes. Prices of the Superb range, however, have not been changed, still starting at Ł13,925 for the 2.0 MPI Classic, even though standard equipment now includes 16” alloy wheels, Climatronic air-conditioning, four airbags, ABS+EDS systems with a braking assistant, electric front and rear windows, tinted glass and a folding and split rear seat.
