SANTA MARIA HOSTS CRA SPRINTS SATURDAY
GARDNER TOPS PAS 30-LAPPER
A thirteen-point gap is all that separates USAC/CRA Sprint Car point leaders Damion Gardner and Cory Kruseman as they prepare for this Saturday night's racing program at the Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway.
Kruseman was the feature winner when the series last visited Santa Maria in June. Gardner, after leading the first nine laps of that race, finished a disappointing 12th. A 30-lap feature concludes Saturday's events at the 1/3-mile dirt track,
Gardner recorded his eight victory of the 2006 campaign Saturday night at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. His win in the Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply/Arizona Race Mart Eagle/Shaver came after he had posted his 15th fast qualifying time of the season. He led the final eight laps after passing Kruseman for the lead on lap 23. Mike Spencer, Kruseman, Tony Jones and Josh Ford rounded out the top-five at the checkered flag.
