NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Sunday from Yellowstone Drag Strip

NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES - NORTHWEST DIVISION

NORTHWEST DIVISION CROWNS CHAMPIONS AT YELLOWSTONE
 
            ACTON, Mont. - Eliminations are complete at Yellowstone Drag
Strip's 3rd Annual Summer Championships, a round of the NHRA Lucas Oil
Drag Racing Series.  Top Alcohol Dragster pilot, Cody Perkins and Top
Alcohol Funny Car driver, Brian Hough, earned wins to gain crucial
points in their quest for a Northwest Divisional title and a National
Championship.
Cody Perkins of Bluffdale, Utah, ran a pass of 5.693 seconds at 248.80
mph in the finals to defeat Sean O'bannon of Alta Loma, Calif., who
broke.
            Brian Hough of Junction City, Ore., found the winner's
circle with a pass of 5.846 seconds at 246.80 mph.  Hough outran local
racer, Ken Kraus of Great Falls, Mont., who ran a final pass of 6.022
seconds at 233.40 mph. 
            In Comp Eliminator another local racer, Clint Sallee of
Glendive, Mont., ran 6.892 seconds at 195.08 mph to defeat Kevin Smith
of Parker, Colo.
 Jody Lang of Puyallup, Wash., in his '81 Malibu defeated Casey Setters
of Red Deer, Alb., 
in Super Stock.  Stock Eliminator racer, Jeff Lane of North Bend, Wash.,
also took home a trophy driving a '96 Corvette.
Johnny Gross of Sedro Wolley, Wash., made a pass of 9.222 seconds at
155.36 mph earning a win in Super Comp.  Also taking home a prize was
Henry Sliwinski of Littleton, Colo., who drove his '63 Corvette 10.255
seconds at 150.85 mph in Super Gas.  
In other categories, Rick Milinazzo of Ft. Collins, Colo., won in Super
Street with a pass of 11.276 seconds at 138.43 mph, while Top Comp
driver Dustin Hentges of Olympia, Wash., made a pass of 7.649 seconds at
172.61 mph for the win.  In the Sportsman Motorcycle category presented
by Harley Davidson, it was Jeff Havens of Yakima, Wash., that went 8.348
seconds at 152.83 mph to defeat Buff Kobs of Coeur D'lene, Idaho, who
finished in 8.031 seconds at 165.97 mph. 
            Northwest Division racers head to Champion Raceway in Eagle
