Road America 2006 Qualifying

Flying Lizard Qualifies 4th and 5th in GT2 for Road America

August 19, 2006--Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin--Under cloudy skies and with unseasonably cool weather, the Lizards qualified fourth and fifth in GT2 for tomorrow's Generac 500 at Road America race. Wolf Henzler clocked the fourth fastest lap of the session on the 4 plus mile track and Lonnie Pechnik had the fifth fastest time out of the ten GT2 competitors. The race line up will be Henzler and Johannes van Overbeek in the No. 45 Porsche and Pechnik and Seth Neiman in the No. 44 Porsche.

Stefan Pfeiffer, Lizard engineer for the No. 45 Porsche, commented on the sessions so far, "We are fairly happy with the No. 45. We made some good progress over the last two days in getting to a race setup. One challenge we'll all face is the weather -- it's been cool and windy since Thursday but raceday should be warm and sunny. We'll need to move quickly to make adjustments tomorrow to suit the track conditions."

Paul Truess, car chief for the No. 44 Porsche said, "This is one of the most consistent setups we've seen so far this year with the No. 44. We haven't been able to pull out any blazingly fast single laps, but I think we've got a good car for a long run. We've done a solid job on prep and the crew's pit work has been outstanding. Now it's up to the drivers and our ability to make the right decisions in real time tomorrow during the race."

Crew chief Tommy Sadler added, "Today's GT2 field's performance was the most competitive that I've seen all year. Even on a four mile course, the top four cars in today's qualifying session were within one second of each other. We've got both Ferraris back on track again, the BMWs are doing well so far this week, and all of the Porsches are showing that they are going to be competitive. It's going to be a tough race -- we need to stay focused and consistent."
